While not events for the general public, it’s good for parishioners to know that Pastoral Council meetings occur regularly (second Sunday, as noted) and are avenues where decisions are made that affect parish events and programs. We value transparency, so major decisions or upcoming plans from these meetings are usually communicated via the bulletin or pulpit announcements. For example, if the council decides on a major fundraiser or building project, a detailed explanation and plan will be shared with all.
Our parish staff meetings happen weekly (Tuesday mornings). In these, the priests, sister, and key staff review the past week and plan the upcoming one – including liturgies, events, and any parishioner needs (like the sick to visit, or preparations for a funeral/wedding). This ensures the left hand knows what the right is doing, so to speak. We pray at the start of each meeting for the parish’s needs. If you as a parishioner have suggestions or see an unmet need (maybe you think we should start a Bible seminar for teens, or fix a microphone), you can always approach the Parish Priest or Council member. There’s also a Parish Suggestion Box at the entrance of the church where you can drop any ideas or concerns (put your name if you want follow-up). These are checked and discussed in meetings. Truly, this is your parish, and we all have a role in making it flourish.
