Pastoral Team and Staff

Our day-to-day operations and pastoral outreach are supported by a dedicated team of religious and lay staff:

  • Sr. Mary Nzisa, FSA – Parish Sister & Administrator (Msoloni Outstation): Sr. Mary is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Anna (FSA) and serves as the administrator and pastoral agent at St. Francis of Assisi, Msoloni Outstation. She coordinates catechesis, liturgies, and social programs in that community. Sr. Mary also assists at the main parish with catechetical training and is known for her compassionate presence among the poor. She helps ensure a strong link between the outstation and the parish center.
  • Ms. Judith Akinyi Oganga – Parish Secretary and Accountant: Judith is often the first face you see at the Parish Office. She manages the front office, keeps parish records, handles correspondence (including parish email), and maintains financial accounts. With a background in accounting, she diligently tracks contributions and expenses, providing monthly reports to the Finance Committee. Judith’s warm professionalism helps everything run smoothly, from Mass intention scheduling to booking parish hall meetings. (Office hours: Tue–Sat, 9:00am–1:00pm, 3:00–5:00pm)[9].
  • Mr. Lemi Kingi – Facilities and Environment Coordinator (and Driver): Lemi takes care of the parish compound and facilities. He oversees the maintenance of the church building, grotto, and grounds, ensuring our worship space is clean and welcoming. He also drives the parish vehicle for pastoral visits, outstation Masses, and errands. Lemi has spearheaded tree-planting in the compound and helped install “tippy taps” (hand-washing stations) during COVID-19, aligning with our environmental and health priorities. His love for creation shines as he beautifies the parish garden and encourages recycling initiatives.
  • Catechetical Team: We are blessed with a team of volunteer catechists who prepare candidates for Sacraments and lead faith formation in SCCs:
  • Mrs. Margreth Mutinda – Catechist for children’s catechism (First Communion classes) and a motherly mentor to our Pontifical Missionary Children group.
  • Mrs. Florence Ngao – RCIA catechist, guiding adults who wish to join the Catholic Church. Florence also coordinates Bible study sessions in Swahili and helps train SCC leaders in Scripture sharing.
  • Mrs. Lillian Athaka – Youth catechist and facilitator for Confirmation classes. Lillian’s lively teaching style connects well with our teenagers. She integrates music and drama in lessons, making learning about the faith engaging.

These catechists have undergone training and ongoing formation; they truly are co-workers with the clergy in spreading the Gospel. (One of our strategic priorities is to continue engaging and forming more catechists to meet the needs of our growing flock – see Strategic Plan.)

  • Liturgical Support: While not paid staff, we must mention the devoted altar servers, lectors, choir members, and ushers who serve at Mass. They are coordinated by volunteer leaders (e.g., Head Catechist, Choir Director, Sacristan etc.). Their selfless service each week enriches our liturgies immensely.

Each member of our pastoral team – clergy, religious, and lay – shares a common commitment: to make Muyeye Parish a true spiritual home where everyone feels cared for. We hold weekly staff meetings and prayer to plan and to intercede for our parish community. Safeguarding training is provided to all staff (see our Safeguarding Policy section) so that our parish is a safe environment for children and vulnerable persons.
